Jack and the Beanstalk (Revisited)

OK - maybe not "wrong" but reading Jack and the Beanstalk to him earlier this week got me thinking. If you don't know the story - I am amazed but will recount it in an adult fashion...

A young chap and his single mother from a an inner city background is finding it hard to get buy on benefits and life is a bit tough going. So the mother sends Jack down to Cash Converters to trade in the family playstation.

On the way to cash converters, a friend of Jack offers to trade his playstation for some magic beans. Jacks aware of his mothers drug addiction so he decides to do the deal. Chirpily he returns to his inner city local authority council house and shows his mother what he got.

His mother is furious that he has come back with what appear to be painted kidney beans. So she looses her temper and throws them out of the 8 floor flat and sends jack to his room to watch TV and 18 rated videos as punishment.

Next morning Jack wakes up to find a great big tree going canny high. He decides to have a wander up the tree where he finds a castle and a giant. The giant is fast asleep and is beside some money, golden harp and a chicken that lays golden eggs. At this point, Jack is thinking that maybe he ate the magic beans but remembers he didn't. He decides to take all of these things, but the harp gets a bit miffed at being manhandled. So the giant wakes up and chases Jack.

Jack runs down the ladder and gets the machete he keeps to cut down the big tree (some imagination really is needed here). He does so, tree falls down and giant cannot catch him. Jack and his mother live a prosperous life with plenty of bling.
