Spiders
I know I am not the only one to notice but there are an awful lot of spiders around, and some big beasties as well.
Apparently this is all to do with the winter which was wet and warm and enabled successful spiders to hatch eggs.
Optimum breading apparently.
Anyway, here is a pic (which will appear on my viewed.blogspot.com at some point) of one I caught on camera at Blicking Hall.

yikes, that looks a similar size to the one we've got at home on the front window.
We've had to chase quite a few out of our new house - I had one in my hair today after doing some gardening.
I really struggle with, I wish they'd just leave me alone!
there is a spider just outside our kitchen window that seems to catch a daddy long legs most days, its incredable watching this small spider taking on a daddy long legs, it must be a huge meal for such a small thing.
SPiders and crane flies are in huge number this autumn, must be something to do with the wet August...
Actually no
I believe it has everything to do with the winter which was mild - this means eggs that were laid down have not been killed by frost (as I am led to believe) and therefore when hatched have hatched more in abundance.
Interesting and informative...thank you!
We had a big one exactly like you're picture in our front garden for ages, we called it Fat Albert and then it disappeared :S
